Multiplication Strategies

My Reflection

I am learning to use three strategies to solve multiplication problems.

I found this easy because we had a teacher to show it first and now I understand.

The easiest strategy that I found out was the place value strategy because I understood how to split the tens and ones to multiply them.

My next step is to try and use the compensation strategy because I got confused sometimes with adding and then remembering to subtract.

My Speech

My Reflection

I have been learning to write a persuasive speech.

A persuasive speech needs to have an introduction, a point of view, 3 reasons to back up your point of view and a conclusion.

I think I did a good job because I had really had good reasons for my speech.

I found it easy because I had a planning shfeet first so that when your writing your speech you will have lot's of ideas.

My next step is to have a more persuasive topic.

My Positive Social Interaction Award

Today I got a certificate. When I heard my name called I was really really Surprised and so I was very happy. I was also really proud about myself because it's about using all the school values.

I have been learning to write a diamante poem.

The most challenginging thing was to write the adjectives, verbs and nouns because first when I started writing the poem I had no idea about what is a noun and I didn't know where all the adjectives goes or verbs .

My next step is to write a Antonyme poem.

My Volcano Landscape Art

We Were learning how to apply paint. We learnt two techniques-dragging with cardboard and dabbing 
with a sponge.  Dabbing and dragging created a very good effect for our landscape. You can see that dragging makes the ash clouds and the dabbing makes the grass that part was my favourite.
I like my volcano landscape!

Te Tuhi Art-My Dream House

This is my dream house. I enjoyed making this dream house because we get to make our own dream house. It has some really fun things in my dream house like a slide house room and a art room with all the staff that you need to make something.

I wish my dream house was real! 

Fractions Of A Set

We are learning about unit fractions of a set.

One thing that worked for me was

knowing my basic facts. Because it made it easier to find the answer.

One thing that was tricky for me was

division facts are hard.

My Mathletics Trophy

                                 
Today I earned the mathletics trophy.  I was really really surprised I came first and got the trophy, I was also happy too.  I hope I get the trophy again.  YAY!

I was learning how to use my senses add detail to my writing so that I can make my writing more interesting for my reader.
This writing was easy because I know my five senses and it helped me for my writing.
Something that helped me was the brainstorm for my writing because it gave me more ideas.
Something that was tricky is to use more punctuation because I didn't have many ideas about punctuation.
My next step is to use this skill in my other writing to add detail.

Comparing Animals Venn Diagram

I have been learning to find information in a non-fiction book by skimming and scanning.
Skimming is when we read quickly over a text or book to get an idea of what the book is about.
Scanning is when we look for specific information in a text and we we look for key words or phrases.
I read a book about butterflies. I skimmed and scanned the book for facts about butterflies.
I buddied up with Krupa to compare animals using a Venn Diagram.
I found this easy because the laptop helped me to find lot's of information.
My next step is to find more interesting information about butterflies.

My Principal's Award

Today I got a principal's award from assembly. I was very happy when the teacher called out my name.

I was also proud of myself because it was a Principal's Award. YAY FOR ME!!!!!!!

I am learning to make and justify inferences.

In this piece of evidence I was finding implicit and explicit information in the text about whitebaiting.

I found this kind of easy because I had help from the book and the website.

My next step is to find out more about implicit and explicit.

I have been learning to retell the story.

I used a story pyramid to help me retell the story, Treasure by the Sea.

I think I did well at using my own words.

I found out that the story pyramid helped me.

My next step is make and justify inferences.
