Narrative Writing Plan

My Reflection

I am learning to write a Narrative.

I found the summary column easy because we had a guide to help us. Describing Yeats was also easy because we learnt lots information about him because he is the main character of the story. The challenging part of my plan was describing my character ( Faith ) because it was a character that was least mentioned so It's a little trickier to know.

My next step is to write a narrative story.

Diary Post-Term 4 Week 6

Dear Diary,

Over the last exciting weeks we had been doing some extraordinary activities. Let me explain about my journey at school.

Inquiry

One of my most favorite projects we had done as a group base activity was making biospheres. We learnt that biospheres is a dome or a place that us humans can live in. Its also a place to keep our living environment in such as fresh air, plants and crops to eat and water. After learning about what is a biosphere and checked out what it looks like in a biosphere we started making our own biospheres using cardboard, glue and scraps og paper and cardboard.

Reading...

At school our class had been reading a book called Between Two Ends. Last week we had finished the last chapters of the book and finished the story with a very curious ending. The story is about a boy called Yeats who wanted to save a girl called Shari who was sucked into the story Arabian Nights and wanted to be a character of the story. Over the journey Yeats encountered adventurous missions and thousands of jobs. But at the end he finds Shari and bring her back home.

Dance

This term we have a huge event for the Year 6s. Around the end of the term we have a dance and so we have to learn some couple dances and partner dances. Last week we learnt a couple dance. We also learnt some dance moves to some songs. One of my favorite songs is Cha-Cha Slide. Cha-Cha slide is a song that you can dance for fun.

                                                               Maths

We have been learning about 3D shapes and their nets. Nets is basically the  structure to making a 3D shape. We learnt that a net is made using 2d shapes which is built to make a 3D shape. Once we had an idea of making a net we decided to make a pirate ship and a treasure chest using paper and drawing out the nets. My group decided to make a treasure chest. We thought that the pirate ship was going to be harder to make but actually the

treasure chest far too hard to make.

Swimming

This term we´re doing swimming but instead of swimming as a whole class we split up with two groups.One is called Squirtles  which is the beginners group and the other group is Blastoids which is the more advanced swimming group. I am in the more advanced group because I'm pretty good at swimming. In our group we learnt to do stream lining swimming and how to breathe by rolling our head onto our shoulder. Swimming is one my most favorite activities I have done so far.

I am learning to write a ballad.

I had to make a plan and use the key words as my rhyming words. Then I formed into each stansers.

I found this tricky because it was hard finding the best word to rhyme with.

I am learning to write a story by showing what I felt like and not telling it.

I had to write about a special activity that I had enjoyed in camp or had the most strongest feelings in and writing it down by adding feelings by showing how you felt.

I found this activity easy because as a class we had spoke together about all the feelings we had when we tried out the activities in camp.

Marine Life Reports

I am learning to write a report about Marine Life Issues.

I had to learn what you have to write on a report and how the structure of a report looks like.

I found this activity easy because I had other people from my group to help me write the report.

I hope you understand the issues in Marine Life.

Haiku Poem

My Reflection

I am learning how to make a Haiku poem.

I had to make sure that I had 5 syllables in the first line, 7 in the second line and 5 in the last line.

I found this activity challenging because finding the correct words for the poem was really tricky.

My next step is to make more challenging Haiku poem.

Speech 2016-Bullying Needs To Stop

My Reflection

I am learning to write a speech using Persuasive techniques.I found this a easy because I had examples and we did our own speech together as a class.I had to make sure that the there would be an introduction that would hook in with the audience, a body with facts and information and an end to finish it off.My next step is to memorize my speech and present it to an audience.

Term 2 Week 8 Diary Post

Dear Diary,

For the last fort night our class have been doing some new learning that includes Art,Reading,Writing and Sports.

Reading

Last week we were entered into a new book called the Green Book. Our teacher Mrs Graham decided to read the book in E book. E book is a website where you can read books online. We read the first few chapters and we found out that in the story they were moving to another planet because the sun was dying. It sounded really interesting and I'm hoping that they will love the new planet.

Art

We're also doing another art project and this time it's about Space and the Solar System. Mrs Graham explained what we were going to do and then we got into groups. The new art project was making paper mashay planets. Paper mashay is a creation. It's made using bits of teared paper and gluing it layers by layers. Our group decided to make the planet Uranus. We didn't start the project yet but it sounded really fun.

Writing

Next term we're having our speech finals and I am soooo nervous. Sometimes I freak out when I'm in front the whole school doing a speech because I think it's embarrassing. But anyways we started writing our planner for our speech and mines is starting out well. YAY. My speech topic is Bullying needs to stop. I thought this topic was a persuasive topic and it was.

I can't wait to see the final speech it's so exciting but also nerve racking. 

Sport

I also want to talk about our amazing netball game last week because it was AMAZING!!

Our netball team had gone to the school Star of the Seas and versed their A netball team. We put our bibs on and rock the game. At the end it was 13 nil. That means we scored 13 and they scored 0 goals. It was a great game and to celebrate we got bags of lollies.

So those were some of the learning that we did for the last few weeks. I know it wasn't much but you will learn more in my next diary post which is coming soon...

Speech Plannner

Reflection

I am learning to make a speech planner.

I had to make a structure of how a speech planner looks like.

I found that there was a lot of points in a speech and that's what I am aiming for in my speech.

My next step is to start writing the beginning of my speech. 

Diary Post Term 2 Week 7

Dear Diary,

Our class have been doing some extraordinary learning this term. 

We have been doing games, watching videos and making new creations.

We have been doing a new art project. It's called Agamographs. Agamograph is an artwork and Agamograph is the name. This artwork is kind of like an illusion but it's not. At first it looked tricky to make but I realized that all you need to do is draw a picture, cut them to pieces and glue them onto a piece of card. I had fun making Agamographs and at the end it really did turned out great.

An event that we have been doing through the last couple of weeks was Terrific Tuesday. Terrific Tuesday is an event that we made and we choose a subject and learn about it around the term. I chose to make putiputi flax flowers. Putiputi falx flowers is a moari creation and you make flowers out of flax. I did this with Mrs Melville.

A couple of weeks ago it was Matariki so we decided to do a Matariki rotation to learn a little bit more about it. Matariki is the Moari new year. We made cookies that were shaped as stars that represents the seven stars of Matariki. We also made kites, learn to make a maori instrument etc. I think that having a rotation is a much better way to learn about Matariki because I learnt alot more about this event.

Those were some of the activities that we are doing through out this term.I really enjoyed doing these activities. Hope you enjoyed my diary post and learn a little bit more about learning at school.

My Diary Post Term 2 Week 2

Diary Post

Greetings diary! It's finally Term 2 of school and it's starting out well. I can't wait to tell you all about it.

I first want to tell you about our Inquiry launch because it was my favorite part of school. We get to watch the movie WALL-E at first. All the year 6's were here even some teachers. We each cuddled up with a cushion/pillow and got comfortable and watch the movie. The teachers decided that our main topic for this year in inquiry was about space. I think you should watch the movie WALL-E because it's a very interesting because it's a movie about robots and humans living in space because Earth was destroyed.

After watching the movie we packed up and then did a scavenger hunt. The topic was about SPACE and we got into teams of 3's or 4's. It was really exciting when it started even you might think it's fun. What the teachers did was they tied up some clues or lets just say questions with a string and tied them somewhere so that we can find it.

Another exciting event that's still happening is Terrific Tuesday which is an event where we choose an activity that we will do for the rest of the Term. We did our first session a couple days ago on Tuesday and I chose how to make PutiPuti flax flowers. 

This activity was an activity that counts weaving. In our first session we made mini paper flax flowers. It started out hard but then it got easier and easier till we got the hang of it.

We're also doing a new art project. I found it really interesting. The creation is called a Agamograph. An Agamograph is an art work where in one side there is a picture and the other side is a  drawing of the opposite of the drawing.

Those were some of the events that happened so far in Term 2. I had really fun doing all of these activities and you should too.

Persuasive Techniques in Commercials

My Reflection

I was learning how to use persuasive techniques.

I had to make an Advertisement about what makes your holiday better using what appeals to parents.

We first got into groups of 2,3 or 4's and then planned out how the adds would turned out to be and what it's all about. Then we made a script to use when we were going to record and it took us a while to make it. Once our script was finished we decided to make our Advertisement using an animation website called Powtoon. Making the presentation was fun but when it came to recording it got really hard. It took us a really long time getting the recording perfect and at the end we got it alright.

Through out this project we also checked out some adds made from people and we learnt some Persuasive techniques.

• SLOGAN: A catchy phrase to make your add more interesting
• REPETITION: You use a word over and over again
• TESTIMONIAL: A customer that tells comments about your work.
• BANDWAGON: Making people want to be apart of it and not missing out.
• EXPERT OPINION: An experts point of view.
• EMOTIONAL APPEAL: Making the audience feel emotional.

The techniques that we used was were:

Slogan and Testimonial. We used Happy Children, Happy Holidays for our Slogan because we thought it would fit with our Advertisement. For our Testimonial we used one of our team members as our happy customer (it was a boy.) 

We could improve by using more techniques to make it grab the audience more.
